Marilyn Monroe's wedding ring up for auction

An upcoming auction will give people the chance to lay their hands on the wedding ring that belonged to one of the most famous blondes of all time, Marilyn Monroe.

The Profiles in History’s Icons of Hollywood Auction - which is due to be held at the Beverly Hills-based Paley Center for Media on December 15 to 16 this year – will see numerous near-priceless items that belonged to celebrity owners sold off to bidders.

Amongst the most sought-after pieces up for auction amongst the Marilyn Monroe memorabilia includes her 3.5 carat platinum and diamond wedding band.

The stunning ring – which has been given an estimated sale price of between $500,000-$700,000 – was given to Monroe by baseball star Joe DiMaggio at their wedding on January 14, 1954.

Other Monroe items on sale include the legend’s invitation to US President John F. Kennedy’s birthday party at Madison Square Garden in 1962, during which she sang the famous ‘Happy Birthday.’

This invitation has been given a guide price of between $40,000-$60,000, whilst a nude painting of Monroe by Earl Moran has been estimated to fetch between $70,000-$90,000 at auction.

Other items up for sale include a pair of ruby slippers used in the ‘Wizard of Oz’ film.
